PURPOSE
The Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (TCCAGO) seeks
to generate interest in and encourage the study of the organ.
WHAT IS THE SCHOLARSHIP?
Awarded by evaluation, the scholarship is worth $1500 for organ study
with teachers who are active members of the TCCAGO. This is a renewable yearly award based on completion standards and re-submission of an application.
TERMS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The terms of this scholarship are as follows:
- 30 hours of instruction will be provided and distributed throughout the award calendar year, by weekly 30-60 minute lessons as mutually agreed by student and instructor.
- Payment for lessons will be made directly to the instructor from the TCCAGO scholarship fund at the end of December and June of award year. (NOTE: Student may need to supplement the remaining amount of the instructor's fee. The TCCAGO does not dictate a standard fee for lessons.)
- During the scholarship year, the student will be a student member of the TCCAGO and enquired to participate in the annual members' recital and any other programs that benefit the scholarship program. The Chapter will cover the cost of the student's AGO dues from the scholarship fund.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Keyboard students from Indian River, Martin, and St. Lucie counties,
which make up the area covered by the Chapter.
HOW DOES ONE APPLY?
- Submit written application. (Download an application below.)
- Letter(s) of recommendation from music teacher or a supervisor.
- A written statement of why the applicant wants to study the organ.
- An interview during which applicant will perform a prepared piece (such as a two-part Invention of J. S. Bach or a hymn/chorale)
