Founding Dean, Donald Ingram
Donald Ingram, the Founding Dean of the Chapter was attending meetings at the Space Coast Chapter and the Palm Beach Chapters for a time before, for a number of reasons, distance not the least, he decided to explore the viability of establishing a chapter in Vero Beach. A number of local organists gathered for a first meeting following a recital at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
According to Don, "We were presented our charter at a service at First United Methodist Church by the then Regional Chairman, Warren Hutton . . . [and] we met at First United Methodist Church because it had a pipe organ, one of three functioning ones in Vero Beach in 1996."
The chapter started with over twenty members, including some non-organist friends who joined to help get the chapter established.
Since 1996, the Treasure Coast Chapter has had a strong history of promoting organ and choral music. Over the years, the Chapter has brought many notable musicians to the area, including Diane Bish, Felix Hell, Nathan Laube, Jonathan William Moyer, Marilyn Mason, Robert Glasgow, David Hill, and Julian Wachner.
The Chapter has presented a mix of programs designed to enhance the education of local musicians and to increase public awareness of the best of choral and organ music. Programs have included organ recitals, choral festivals, youth programs such as Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza, workshops, master classes, and the Scholarship Program.
